The sticky update - Smart Launcher 6.6 build 010

Smart Launcher 6.6 build 010 is now available in the beta channel, and it will gradually roll out to more users over the next few days.

After last week’s big milestone, 50 million downloads, this update is about making Smart Launcher feel even more personal. The main new feature is something small, flexible, and fun: you can now paste stickers directly onto your home screen.

Paste stickers on your home screen

With Smart Launcher 6.6, you can copy an image from another app and paste it directly onto your home screen.

Just copy an image, open the main menu in Smart Launcher, and tap Paste. The image will be added to your home screen as a sticker.

This works especially well with gallery apps that can create stickers from your photos. For example, in Google Photos and many other gallery apps, you can long-press a subject in a photo to isolate it, copy it, and then paste it into Smart Launcher.

It is a simple way to make your home screen more personal. You can add people, pets, objects, drawings, memes, or decorative elements without creating a complex setup.

Some users in our community have already started experimenting with this feature and sharing tutorials. If you want to learn more, take a look here.

And it does not work only with images. You can also copy text from another app and paste it onto your home screen, using the same system. This is useful for short notes, quotes, labels, or reminders.

Widget stacks now remember their “cover”

Widget stacks are useful because they let you keep multiple widgets in the same space. But sometimes, you may want one specific widget to be the one always visible on your home screen.

In this update, we added a new option that makes widget stacks return to the initially selected widget when you come back to the home screen from another app.

This is useful when you use a widget as a “cover” for aesthetic reasons. For example, you may want to show a photo widget, a transparent widget, or a clean minimal widget, while keeping more technical widgets behind it, like data usage, account balance, or other utility widgets.

With this option enabled, every time you return to the home screen, Smart Launcher restores the stack to your preferred widget.

A refreshed Material You theme

The Material You theme has been updated with a new blur effect inspired by Pixel Launcher.

This gives Smart Launcher a softer and more modern look, especially in places where the wallpaper and launcher surfaces interact visually.

A better search bar for compact setups

The Smart Launcher search bar now adapts better when it becomes very small.

When you resize it below a certain limit, it switches to a new compact layout. This makes it more useful in minimal home screens or in setups where every bit of space matters.

Use Smart Launcher in a different language

You can now use Smart Launcher in a different language from the rest of your system.

On supported Android versions, you can change the language from the Android app settings:

  1. Open Android Settings
  2. Go to Apps
  3. Select Smart Launcher
  4. Open Language
  5. Choose the language you want to use

This feature is available on Android versions that support per-app language preferences, starting from Android 13.

Preview news sources before adding them

When you add a news source to the News page, you can now see a preview first.

This makes it easier to understand if a source is interesting for you before adding it to your feed.

New weather provider, AccuWeather is now available!

AccuWeather is now available as a weather provider in Smart Launcher.

Thanks to this change, the Smart Launcher weather widget is now available for free to all users.

Keep your position in the App page

We added a new option to remember the last position of the App page.

When enabled, Smart Launcher will not reset the App page state when you leave the home screen. This is useful if you often return to the same category, folder, or section and want to continue exactly where you left off.

Fixes and improvements

This update also includes several fixes and smaller improvements:

  • Custom icons applied to Smart Launcher categories are now tinted correctly when the theme changes.
  • The Private Space button can now open Samsung Secure Folder where available.
  • The Go to page shortcut has been fixed and now works as expected.
